God will render to every man according to his deeds: To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life. (Romans 2:6&7) Many years ago while removing bundles of shingles from a roof I just had completed, singing away and happy in the spirit; God spoke this to me, "Would you work for me?" My first reaction was surprise. Then I thought, I'm already working for you Lord. I spread the gospel of Jesus Christ by sharing with people where ever I go. Again the Lord asked the same question, although this time Jesus began to reveal my heart. I had come to a comfortable place with my earthly service unto God. At one time the place I had arrived at was quite an accomplishment. Now Jesus wanted to bless me with more of his nature by pruning me back. I thought, how much more I wanted to serve God. However, to enter into a more committed life of service, I knew many things had to change in my life. My faith had to increase, my lifestyle altered and a more serious life lived according to the word of God. I had been living behind a shield of preaching the word to others instead of desirously wanting the word to increase in my life. Full-time service would put me under the microscope of all Christianity. Perhaps God is asking you to do something today. Instead of looking unto Jesus you are looking at the obstacles in your life; things you are not willing to change, alter or remove. Beloved, Jesus emptied himself of all things, leaving us an example. As God removes, he refills. Your heavenly father will neither forsake you or ever leave you.
