Then said one unto him, "Lord, are there few that be saved? (Luke 13:23)
Jesus had been teaching many parables concerning the kingdom of God. His audience was the world and anyone could have followed to hear these teachings. So out of this environment came a question; "Lord, are there few that be saved?" His answer was easy, "Only the workers of iniquity will not be saved!" He further analyzes that his presence at meetings will not save a person. Nor will his presence in human habits; "We have eaten and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets." (Luke 13:26)
This question can only be settled by the living of the word of God. Then will the doer of God's word know that the pure in heart shall see God. How marvelous is this in his sight.
