O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever. (Psalm 136:1)

"For his mercy endureth for ever." The mercies of our God are beyond searching out. After receiving Jesus as your Savior and Lord, you may only possess a shallow understanding of the mercies of God.

In Psalm 136, there are 26 verses, each ending with, "his mercy endureth for ever."Its design was for the Levites or priests to sing the first part of each verse, then all the people would carry their burdens to Almighty God saying, "for his mercy endureth for ever."The nation of Israel came to realize the vast unexhaustible reservoir of God's mercies.

Jesus came that we might have life and life more abundantly. The same life that was manifested in Jesus is part of our heritage. A life that not only reveals the mercies of God, but extends their impact to others. What are God's mercies?

Jesus said, "I will have mercy and not sacrifice." (Matthew 9:13) He chose to forgive, imparting hope into the lives of others. Our Lord chose to serve and not to be served. Hopeless, heartbroken and sick persons found God's mercies through our Lords service.

Beloved, when you extend the mercies of God, as Jesus did, others will receive new hope and new life. Your heart will be filled with the love of God as you proclaim, "for his mercy endureth for ever."
