And Jesus said unto them, "It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power." (Acts 1:7) We seem to be living in a time when questions like these surface frequently: What do all these world events mean? Why are there more and more bad things happening? Is the end near? And so on. There once was a man who had two sons. He was very gentle in character and believed in rewarding instead of punishing to promote discipline. One day he purchased a brand-new car and realized that his garage needed cleaning. So he started to clean and move items himself. One of the items he found in the garage was an old "for sale sign." He had a thought. Placing the for sale sign by the front of the garage; he called his two sons and said, "boys someday this garage and all that is in it will be yours. I need it cleaned so I can put in the brand-new car I have purchased. He then divided the workload up giving each boy the responsibility of one half of the garage. As he left to go and pick up his purchase, he shouted out, "I will be back around evening with the new car." Both boys started their tasks. As items were moved back and forth pass the for sale sign, thoughts filled their minds. Nevertheless to say, only one boy was ready when the new car arrived. Don't be misled by signs. Jesus said, as he was leaving this earth to receive the kingdom meant for us; "But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you." (Acts 1:8 a) Be a doer of the work and the word; not a forgetful hearer! Praise the Lord!
