I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all. (Ecclesiastes 9:11) How good is our God, how great is his name! Yes, time and chance happens to us all. These events are not always what man considers, "a bad happening." Sometimes, the unexpected might be, as it is said, "just what the doctor ordered." However, time does present a challenge to us all. Go back a day, a week, a year or even ten years; see what I mean? Time is always echoing this message, "teach me to number my days, O Lord, that I might incline my heart to wisdom." God's wisdom is pure, peaceable, gentle and easy to entreat; full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy. We seem to be living in a world that gives great audience to hypocrisy and little attention to this heavenly wisdom. Time is in the drivers' seat and very few consider its destination. He or she that is of God is timeless, eternal and always elevated to the thoughts and the word of God. This lifestyle lifts the heaviest of weights when concerning man's limited expression of success or failure; to the knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Only then can you or I embrace this world of time and chance.
